Race has long been used in medicine as a proxy in diagnoses, algorithms, and treatments, despite being a social construct rather than a biological one. This practice can perpetuate harmful biases and rely on inaccurate biological assumptions, and obscure the root causes of health disparities. In this two-part workshop series, physicians will explore the history and impact of race based medicine, and learn practical strategies to  implement more accurate, inclusive approaches in their care.

Part 1: Foundations - Understand how race influences medical training, research, algorithms, and care decisions — and the equity impacts of this system.

Part 2: Practice - Explore real-world tools and strategies for addressing race-based medicine and implementing more accurate approaches in practice.
